NGC 1333 is a diffuse nebula in Perseus, 780 light-years away. It is a site of active star formation, with several YSOs (young stellar objects), some still shrouded in the molecular cloud into which they are condensing. Their light filters through with difficulty and is strongly reddened. The most massive stars—the first to ignite in a cluster—are less than 2 million years old.
